Personal Development
At The Stoke Poges School, we understand the powerful impact a well-rounded, inclusive Personal Development curriculum can have on young lives. We believe it is our responsibility to nurture our pupils academically and personally, as these skills are essential for their future success and opportunities in life.
Our Personal Development curriculum equips pupils with the skills and knowledge to make safe, healthy, and positive choices. Focusing on fostering a strong sense of community, our aim is to help shape the next generation with a deep understanding of relationships, social skills, moral values, and British Values. This foundation allows students to fully access and engage with the academic curriculum, work together effectively, discuss current issues with respect, and thoughtfully consider the moral dilemmas encountered in literature or history.
In addition to academic learning, pupils receive education in personal, physical, and mental health, including how to build and maintain physical fitness. By learning to express their feelings, manage conflict, and take responsibility for their actions, our pupils develop into confident, independent individuals with the skills to self-regulate their behavior.
Please note that the Department for Education (DfE) is currently reviewing its guidance on Relationships, Sex, and Health Education (RSHE) with input from an independent panel of experts. Once the final version of this guidance is published, we will update our policy accordingly.
